First Road Trip!

This past weekend, my Aunt Julia graduated from Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. The whole family packed into the car to watch the ceremony and celebrate with her. What is normally a 4.5 hour drive, turned into a 6.5 hour drive with all of the stops we had to make. About every 2 hours, mom and dad had to get me out of my car seat to feed and change me.

Down in San Luis Obispo, we hung out at Julia's apartment, saw her graduate, went to dinner and walked the town. Dad enjoyed seeing the town for the first time and we all enjoyed hanging out with Grandpa Matt, Teri, Grammie J, and Julia.

On the way home, we stopped in Walnut Creek to attend our friend Kevin's birthday party. I was the hit of the party. Kat was out from Dallas and barely let me go. Kevin's mom made food for all of the adults, which was amazing. It was a nice break from the driving for mom, dad, and me.

Overall, I did really well in the car during this first trip. It wasn't until the last 40 minutes on the way home that I decided to cry. When I did, there was nothing to console me. I just wanted to be home.

1st Baseball Game

On Tuesday, May 12th, I went to my very first Giants game. We went in celebration of our friend Kevin Wong's birthday. My parents have been going for a couple years now, always on Chinese Heritage Night. During the game, there was a ton of new things to see and experience. The large stadium lights were my favorite part. I spent most of the time looking at them. There were also many distractions. Mom had trouble feeding me, because everytime people cheered, I stopped feeding to look around. Eventually, mom took me to the ladies bathroom where it was quieter to feed me. Because she was paranoid about germs, she stood in a stall and held my head and back as Auntie April held my legs. Overall, it was a great night...the Giants won and thanks to Aunt Mari, I even got a super cool message on the jumbo screen. It said, " Welcome Tanyon to your 1st Giants game at 2 months old!"

Mother's Day

Mom woke up on Mother's Day to find cards for her on the coffee table. One read, "MOM" in kid writing, which was from me, and the other was from dad. Mom was surprised to find my name signed at the bottom of my card. She thinks dad "helped" me write it, but he insisted he did not. I may be growing fast, but I think I am still a few years from writing my name...

After we all got ready, we headed out to the Plantation by the coast to celebrate the day with Grandma Deanne and Great-Grandma Marilyn. While I had to stick to milk, everyone else enjoyed a wonderful brunch put on by the local fire department. It was a beautiful day and I got a lot of attention.

I did a little bonding with Great-Grandma Marilyn and Great-Grandpa Howard back at Grandma Deanne's house. We traded smiles and cooing for quite awhile before I eventually got hungry again.

That evening, mom, dad and I went to Healdsburg to see Grandma and Grandpa Miller. Aunt Sheila met us there and we had a lovely dinner prepared by Grandma Kathy. Mom started to take photos, but the camera battery died. The only ones she got were of Grandpa Paul reading an opthamology journal with me; and one of dad and Sheila. So much for capturing the moms on their day!

Tanyon has started smiling!

Everyone is really excited, because I have started smiling at them. Mom thinks I am quite the charmer and Dad doesn't want to leave for work until he gets one. I have realized that I can get away with a lot more fussiness if I keep this up.
Of course, I have to keep things lively in the house as well. Here is a picture after a projectile vomit...I felt much better after I did it!

First Softball Game

On Thursday, mommy and Grandpa Matthew took me to Montgomery High School to watch cousin Shauna play softball. It was a little cold out, but I had lots of bodies to help warm me up. Auntie Judy, cousin Jaliffa, Grammie Joan, and Grandpa Matthew took turns holding and feeding me. Uncle Mike led the Vikings to a 11-1 win over Piner. Shauna did great! She had some killer at bats. The most memorable was a battle with the pitcher, which led to a foul ball soaring through the air and landing on Uncle Mike's windshield. The impact made a huge crack that spidered out. Luckily, she finished the at bat with a double that drove in runs. Despite some fussiness, I had a great time with my extended family. I hope to do it again soon!

Busy Wednesday

This last Wednesday mom had me running all over town! First we stopped by Wright School to attend a meeting. Mom likes to keep a hand in her professinal life and I like spending time with the teachers. Sue, Angela, and Wendy got some special holding time.

In the evening, I went to my first date night with Angela Vance at LoCoco's. Before I was born, mommy would go out with her girlfriends every Wednesday night. On this night they decided to let me tag along. Unfortunately, I was a little fussier than normal, so I didn't let many people hold me. However, as you can see, I am very happy in Auntie Angela's arms. In fact, I keep trying to stick my hands places that I shouldn't...

By the end of the evening, I was exhausted!
