Please send water ASAP!

January 11, 2010

While in the bath the other day, I decided to show mom that I was thirsty by dipping my wash cloth in the water, then sucking on it. In case she didn't get the point I repeated this action for over 10 minutes. Dip the wash cloth, suck the water out, swallow the water, then repeat. Mom was very kind and did not add any soap to the tub that night. However, she isn't sure whether I peed in the water or not. I guess she will never know...

Getting Into Mischief

Mom followed me around the other day with the camera to see what I was interested in. She was amazed to find how much mischief I could get into in a matter of minutes. Each time she moved me, I found something new and interesting to play with. Unfortunately, every time I moved toward something that looked amazing, she pulled me away. Don't worry, I am sure that I will get a little quicker in time and I will get my hands on all of the thing that I can't now.

Here I am trying to get into Emma's food bin. I haven't figured out how to do it yet, but I really like to pull myself up on it and bang on the container.

This is one of my favorite toys in the kitchen! It is at the bottom of the fridge, but its not attached. I can pull it away and make the most awesome noise with it. I don't think my parents like the noise as much as I do. What do you think about it?

Emma's food and water bowls are terribly fascinating, but mom and dad won't let me near them. When I think they aren't looking, I take off crawling towards them. I have been successful a handful of times and have enjoyed the pleasures of dipping my hand in Emma's water, or moving her bowl around the floor a bit. Unfortunately, these precious moments don't last long. Here, mom was filming me, so I thought I had a good chance...

You may not be able to see me here, but I am headed towards this great dark hold called the fireplace. Mom and dad aren't even using it, but they won't let me inside.

Mom's note: Tanyon is getting very curious about things and really likes to explore. If you are in a room with him, he will now start crawling towards the doorway. When he gets there, he turns back and smiles to catch your attention, giggles, then scoots right on out into the next room alone. Paul and I are starting to realize all of the things we will need to baby proof very soon!

First Citrus

Yesterday, Dad gave me a tangerine to work on. At first I just sucked on the skin, but eventually my new teeth broke through. Dad thought I wouldn't like the taste of citrus, but I proved him wrong. It tasted soooo good! I started attacking the tangerine and a huge piece broke off in my mouth. Dad had to slow me down by pulling off little pieces at a time and feeding them to me. My parents were a little worried about giving me too much citrus in one shot, so I only got 2/3 of the tangerine. I can't wait until they let me have another one...

Clapping

Check out what I can do now! Mommy noticed me copying her the other day and she got dad to take this video to document it. At first I just clapping when mommy did, but now I am doing it all of the time. It sounds neat when my hands hit against each other. It is not as loud as I would like it yet, but I will keep working on it and let you know about my progress.

Mama? (A post from mom)

Not sure if this counts as "Mama," but I will take it! He said it about 7 times that day. Most of the time it sounded like mama, but other times it started as "Mama" and turned into something else. December 28th, 2009

Other December landmarks in the life of Tanyon:

  • Week of 12/7-12/14: Started sitting up in his crib at night from a lying down position. Unfortunately, he didn't figure out how to lay back down at first, which led to some sleepless nights.
  • 12/10/09: 3rd tooth emerges. It is Tanyon's upper left tooth.
  • Mid December: Says what sounds like "hi" to Grandma Deanne twice during one of her lunch visits.
  • 12/27: 4th tooth emerges (his upper right one). Mommy's singing of "All I Want for Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth" seems to have been a premonition.
  • 1/3/10: Tanyon claps after watching others clap for him.

Malvino Christmas Eve Madness

Lovin' my Aunt April. I am also practicing my new squinty smile that I am so proud of.
The craziness of mom's family got to me a little, so I grabbed a cold one from dad to get over my anxieties.
Unfortunately, I hadn't gotten both of my naps that day, so I didn't last very long into the party. Many people in the family tried to hold me. Uncle Mike had some success, but eventually the sleepiness took over. Dad had to take me home around 9pm, while mom finished out the great White Elephant Gift Exchange. Here are some more pics from the party:

The Phases of Opening Christmas Presents

What is this thing?
OH! A present for me...you shouldn't have.
OK, I unwrapped the first one, what is in the other? (Notice the disregard for the gift in his right hand.)

What is it?

Really, mom?! It's not that funny...

Christmas Fun in Middletown

Christmas Eve in Middletown:

Who put this silly headband on me!

Opening my first Christmas present from Aunt April:

The Grandparents with their babies:

I loved this toy! The Santa would ride his bike all around me, taunting me (see the video), and I finally got revenge by biting him in the head...

Here I am catching that pesky bike-riding Santa and Keller is trying to crawl:
