This last week has been full of "Firsts" and just overall a bit crazy. Last Wednesday 9/23, Tanyon finally got his first tooth! He had been working on it for a while. It is one of his lower front teeth. He was a little fussier than usual a couple days before, but overall, he has still be quite a dream. On Thursday 9/24, Tanyon had his first trip to Oakland. OK, so we weren't there just to see the sights. We went to see the pediatric pulmonologist at the Oakland Kaiser. The trip was to check in about his deep and rumbling breathing. It turns out that he is just fine. There may be some part of his throat that constricts a little more than the rest or the way the flap on his windpipe closes that may cause the sound, but it is nothing that bothers him or constricts his breathing. He should outgrow it by the time he is two and a half. Until then, we have an awesome tracking device and we will always know where he is.
On Thursday night, Tanyon had his first overnight away. I had to go to a school work day, so we met with Grammie Joan and Teri in Calistoga. They took him over to Middletown and Paul and I got to have a date night. Tanyon apparently was "over" being in the car by the time they reached the top of the hill and cried all the way down. However, when he got to be out of his car seat at Grandpa's house, he was just fine. Tanyon slept in Grammie J's room with her and thankfully only woke her up once during the night. The next day he went on a walk to MugShots downtown and spent time in the jumpy swing.
Friday night, 9/24, Tanyon saw his first football game live. The whole family went to see my cousin Mariano play Center for Montgomery High School's football team. Tanyon enjoyed the lights and people, but got a little scared when everyone cheered and screamed too loud. He spent most of the game in the arms of family, but by the end he fell asleep in my arms.
On Saturday, we packed up Tanyon and headed to Middletown to get Paul's car looked at by our favorite mechanic, Tom.
The first part of the morning, Tanyon played in the jumpy swing, checked out chickens and spent time with Auntie April. At 12:30pm we all sat down to watch the Cal v. Oregon football game (You will notice Tanyon was dressed for the occasion.). Unfortunately, Cal was trounced, but at least we got some time in with the Grandparents.
Last night, for the first time, Tanyon sat up on my own for over 20 seconds. Paul thinks we need to credit the big cloth diaper Tanyon wears for the feat. However, he sat again today and he definitely wasn't doing it before--with or without the cloth diaper. Well, I am pretty sure that the next big news will be Tanyon's second tooth coming in. I can see it just below the surface of his gums, right next to the one he already has... Stay tuned.
