Halloween At Dad's Work

Mom and I dropped by Dad's work on Friday. He had dressed up as a construction worker, so we decided to surprise him and dress up in matching outfits. Check out my sweet hammer and tool belt...

All of the ladies and gents at the office thought I was looking quite sweet. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling 100%, so mom took me home, only to discover that I had a fever. So, I am off to sleep...

Another First

I have started holding my own bottle! Here I am feeding myself completely for the first time on Oct. 24.

Getting Ready for Halloween

This picture is for Auntie April (taken on 10/23). She loves her some monster gear!

Teething Relief (10-11-09)

I think the pictures kind of say it all, but for the record... I am a bit obsessed with any bottle or glass containing liquid. Well, Dad was having a beer one evening and I was sitting on his lap. I had been working on some new teeth all day, so the cold hard bottle looked very appetizing. As Dad went to take a sip, I grabbed for the bottle and put it in my mouth. I didn't ever taste what was inside, but the cool glass on my gums felt good. Now everytime Dad wants a tasty adult beverage around me, he has to share...

The Many Faces of Tanyon (10-10-09)

Here I am standing on dad's stomach (with a little support from dad), trying to balance. It is one of my favorite activities and it usually generates a bit of excitement and some great faces...

Birthday Celebrations

On October 8th, our family celebrated Aunt April and Aunt Julia's birthdays in Napa. It was 5 days before Aunt Julia's 21st birthday, so she couldn't truly celebrate yet, but we all had a good time. I tried to dress up for the occasion. The hat was definately a big hit at the restaurant.

Time with Grandma Deanne

Grandma Deanne came over during her lunch break last week. I wasn't on my best behavior, but it was sure nice to see her. We had lunch and did lots of cuddling. I can't wait to see her again.

Highchair Time

Mom has decided that it is time to set up my highchair. I loved eating my first meal in the chair. You can see the remains of sweet potatoes all over my face in these photos. I also love to play with toys in my highchair while mom or dad cooks dinner. I sit tall enough to hang out with them and it is really fun to throw my toys of the edges of my tray.

Reading

Here I am, reading with Teri on October 3rd. Check me out, turning the pages.

Our Last Week (by mommy)

This last week has been full of "Firsts" and just overall a bit crazy. Last Wednesday 9/23, Tanyon finally got his first tooth! He had been working on it for a while. It is one of his lower front teeth. He was a little fussier than usual a couple days before, but overall, he has still be quite a dream.

On Thursday 9/24, Tanyon had his first trip to Oakland. OK, so we weren't there just to see the sights. We went to see the pediatric pulmonologist at the Oakland Kaiser. The trip was to check in about his deep and rumbling breathing. It turns out that he is just fine. There may be some part of his throat that constricts a little more than the rest or the way the flap on his windpipe closes that may cause the sound, but it is nothing that bothers him or constricts his breathing. He should outgrow it by the time he is two and a half. Until then, we have an awesome tracking device and we will always know where he is.
On Thursday night, Tanyon had his first overnight away. I had to go to a school work day, so we met with Grammie Joan and Teri in Calistoga. They took him over to Middletown and Paul and I got to have a date night. Tanyon apparently was "over" being in the car by the time they reached the top of the hill and cried all the way down. However, when he got to be out of his car seat at Grandpa's house, he was just fine. Tanyon slept in Grammie J's room with her and thankfully only woke her up once during the night. The next day he went on a walk to MugShots downtown and spent time in the jumpy swing.

Friday night, 9/24, Tanyon saw his first football game live. The whole family went to see my cousin Mariano play Center for Montgomery High School's football team. Tanyon enjoyed the lights and people, but got a little scared when everyone cheered and screamed too loud. He spent most of the game in the arms of family, but by the end he fell asleep in my arms.
On Saturday, we packed up Tanyon and headed to Middletown to get Paul's car looked at by our favorite mechanic, Tom.

The first part of the morning, Tanyon played in the jumpy swing, checked out chickens and spent time with Auntie April. At 12:30pm we all sat down to watch the Cal v. Oregon football game (You will notice Tanyon was dressed for the occasion.). Unfortunately, Cal was trounced, but at least we got some time in with the Grandparents.

Last night, for the first time, Tanyon sat up on my own for over 20 seconds. Paul thinks we need to credit the big cloth diaper Tanyon wears for the feat. However, he sat again today and he definitely wasn't doing it before--with or without the cloth diaper.

Well, I am pretty sure that the next big news will be Tanyon's second tooth coming in. I can see it just below the surface of his gums, right next to the one he already has... Stay tuned.
